(Message edited by asonearchitecture on October 17, 2014) Apple would be nowhere without the design professions. ![]() Low end consumer and high end can buy their own screens.the middle is stuck with an iMac or moving to Windows. They simply refuse to make a cost effective yet powerful desktop machine that targets design professionals.beside the all in one iMac. I hope that Windows 10 is a decent OS, because I am fed up with Apple. ![]() The only viable desktop Mac now starts at $2999. (For a production machine, I would personally not use an "0.0" release of an operating system unless I had already verified that everything was working properly in the beta, or on another computer…)Ī new Mac OS, but they killed the Mac Mini. The "SKP utility" is getting closer, but not ready quite yet. See our post just above yours for the first question. Until I can get SKP import workflow going, I'm going to have to hold off on updating Tech Speaking of which, during the v8 beta, Support had written that there would be a separate tool coming out that allows you to import/convert SKP files for use in FMZ8: is that available or still happening? did I miss it? I need the SketchUp import ability if v7 isn't going to be fully functional. Therefore, if you are considering upgrading to Yosemite and want to continue using formZ v6, you should probably do so only if you can also boot to an older OS if necessary. However, it has not been tested extensively, and we would not be surprised if one or more issues did exist. The Apple store is updating right now so I'm not sure.įormZ v6.7.3 will launch on Yosemite and it appears to run properly. On the bright side, you might be able to get a discount on Yosemite if you bought within a certain time frame. Hey Des - always check before buying a new Mac. And that's it for my broken record rant of the day. Of course all this could be solved by bringing out a FBX export option. Please get V7 working with the OS, or get DAE textures back. Now, if V7 can not be made to work with Yosemite we face the choice of not being able to upgrade to the latest OS, or not being able to export DAE with textures, and having to find a new workflow for exchange of files with the FX house we work with. ![]() A bit inconvenient since we can save out a V7 copy of the file and export the DAE from there. With the change to V8 we lost the ability to Export DAE files with textures. I'm a bit pee'd off cos' I just bought a new iMac 27" two months ago. Yes Joe, that looks like a serious machine. So for now, if you want / need to use Yosemite, you should be fine if you are using the current version of formZ.Ī new 27" retina 5K iMac with the i7 chip has arrived. We are working on some corrections for v7 and it is possible that this could work in the future, but we can not guarantee that until we see how much work it will require. Yes, formZ v8 works fine with Yosemite, but v7 does not.
